    I am a multi-disciplinary artist, working in collage and assemblage art. In my work I examine the possibilities available when using found materials and appropriated images. I mix abstract shapes, redact, edit and censor the photographs and text to create new stories about form, negative and positive space, women, masks (real and imagined) and queerness.

    As a printmaker and illustrator I want to create powerful and poetic art that can become a springboard for the viewers' imagination. Despite appearances, the images are grounded in reality, often beginning as drawings made from life.     Owen Oppenheimer (b.USA 1969) studied fine art at Cheltenham School of Art, l'Institut des Hautes Etudes en Arts Plastiques in Paris and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. His work has been shown in exhibitions internationally, screened at film festivals in Europe, Asia and Africa, and broadcast on tv in the UK and the Netherlands.
