    Sam is an interdisciplinary inspired by movement. Sam’s work researches, creates and reflects on the concept of what they refer to as ‘choreographic objects. A ‘choreographic object’ is any work Sam creates that has, through the process of making or in the way it looks, a relationship to the body and movement. Sam has a studio at the Art House Wakefield.

    I make paintings about what it is to be human and our dis-connection from the natural world. I am inspired by Adam and Eve and how paradise lives in our psyche as both a longing for home or mythical place. My work as a psychotherapist is mirrored in the psychodrama of the work, the painted surface and imagery reflecting our fractures, flaws, both psychological/physical, and our wish for love.

    I am currently a MA student studying Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Previously, I studied Ceramics and craft Art at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in China. My work spans sculpture, installation, painting, and illustration.     I grew up in the heart of the textile industry, and spent many childhood days playing amongst the derelict mills that are our heritage. After travelling extensively, I was drawn back by the rugged and remote beauty of the Pennines. My passion is capturing the drama of our landscape, its social and industrial heritage and the lives of the people who lived and worked here then and now.

    Tina Culverhouse (b. 1969) is an artist based in London and France. She has recently been awarded as a Fellow of Digswell Arts Trust (24-29), Hertfordshire. Tina completed the Turps Banana Mass Programme studio based 21/23 and off-site 23/24. She graduated from the University of Hertfordshire Creative School as a Master of Fine Arts (Distinction) in September 2021.
