    East Yorkshire based visual communicator, and sculptor. My work focuses on colour, the natural world, and how plants connect with us. I work in whatever materials I can afford/acquire including digital drawing often incorporating handwritten lettering.     Amy Sterly is originally from Chicago and received a B.F.A. in drawing and sculpture from Rockford College, Illinois in 1986. She moved to the U.K. in 1989 and has since exhibited throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. She is exploring ways of using domestic objects to make prints and installations. Collaborations and public interventions are an important aspect of her practice.

    I completed a Graduate Diploma in Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts, where I was awarded the William Callaway Scholarship, specialising in material-led processes and traditional weaving techniques. My work blends traditional Jamdani weaving with contemporary aesthetics, creating woven artworks that explore the entangled histories of a colonial past through material narratives.
