    Amber White is a concept-driven, multidisciplinary artist specialising in Artist Books as tactile, narrative objects. Her practice explores the relationship between materiality, structure and meaning, drawing on experience across textiles, print, and jewellery. Working with processes such as marbling, etching and hand stitching, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces that integrate form and concept.

    I am a Bradford based Chinese artist, a graduate of Yunnan Arts University in Kunming where I also qualified as a teacher. Although my personal preference is for abstract painting in oils, after taking up residence in The UK, I further developed my skills as a portrait painter. More recently, I was inspired to create landscapes after securing temporary studio space in Bradford city centre.

    Stone has always fascinated me, it all started as a child growing up in the north of Sweden. Nature still remains a resource for my creating and it allows me to access my creativity. My work is about who we are most essentially as human beings, behind the mask.

    I am a neurodivergent artist creating vibrant, spontaneous, and highly stylized art. My practice explores a deeply personal mythology through densely layered, intricately detailed compositions. Using vivid colors and metallic accents, I blend ancient artifact aesthetics with futuristic sci-fi motifs to build interconnected, visionary worlds that pulse with continuous movement and rhythm.

    I have taken pictures throughout my life. My Dad was a keen photographer so we often shared our images, giving us a common interest. I enjoy landscape, abstract or anything that catches my eye.     I am currently producing work that is a a combination of paintings and mixed media relief pieces that combine embroidery, paper clay, precious metal clay, paper, watercolour, ink and found objects. Each piece is accompanied with a poem about and as a response to the physical work. I also work as a development librarian.

I worked as a creative facilitator, mentor, curator & researcher for 10 years, for orgs such as Cartwheel Arts, Pool Arts and ARC.
