    I am an artist based in Leeds, UK, interested in the spatial qualities of textiles, how their ubiquity make them a potent marker of time, change and human life.     Marika is a skilled artist and a PhD candidate at Sheffield Hallam University. Her PhD project, Beyond Touch-screens, has been exhibited at the CHI Interactive Experience Bolzano and Stanley Gallery. She has also attended several conferences and residencies, including Activism Neuroaesthetics in Cognitive Capitalism by SFSIA. In 2023, she was a Junior Fellow at IWM for Digital Humanism.

    Exploring the exciting properties of encaustic beeswax has been my passion for several years. First used by Ancient Egyptians as a painting medium, it saw a resurgence last century and has continued to flourish. Still relatively unknown in Europe, but once discovered, never forgotten. When I first took up my brush and dipped it into molten wax and pigment I knew I was hooked!

I lived a large part of my life in California working in Economics but I have always maintained my love of art and creating art. My journey now is mostly about making art.     David Watkins is a visual artist whose practice encompasses painting and installation. Based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, he is a trustee at The Old Waterworks, an artist-run studio and charity. Watkins holds a Professional Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London and has studied painting and sculpture at the University of Wolverhampton and the University of Buffalo, New York State.
