    My artistic practice is a response to architecture and the natural environment and reflects on particular sites in the context of poetry and literature. Alternative approaches to mapping is the crux of my research, I juxtapose and transform words, signs, symbols and texts into installations, artist’s books, prints and drawings.

    Through my work I want to explore the mythological representation of women and how stories have been influenced and reengineered by patriarchy. How women have been written out of folklore and how stories have been changed to fit in with this ideology.

    I am an emergent mixed media artist who enjoys exploring via photographs, collages and notebooks the world.     I am a visual artist based in York, UK. Formerly a teacher of literature & drama in the UK and Spain, I was awarded an MA in Fine Art in 2020 and went on to co-manage a community gallery and studio at 23 Piccadilly.     Milly Aburrow (b.2001, Chichester, UK) is a 2023 graduate of Bath Spa University, completing a BA in Fine Art (Hons). Through a playful colour palette and a comical stylisation, her work characterises the parameters of commercialisation, consumerist society, and particularly our contemporary food culture that defines a part of everyone's life.

    Originally from Moldova (formerly part of the USSR), I have called Harrogate home for the past 28 years. Since 1995, I've resided in the UK. Currently, I share my passion for art and photography as an educator at Harrogate Grammar School while continuing to refine my skills as a painter.     Though rooted in printmaking, my MA in Fine Art (UAL) encouraged me to expand my practice to include installation and assemblage. I use a range of media including traditional (e.g. print, ceramics) and newer technologies (e.g. laser cut) which I combine to stretch possibilities. My work reflects the range of human experience, with dementia and the working poor among my subjects.
