    Sinead Barker (b.1989) is a textile artist based in York, North Yorkshire. She creates wildlife textile art using collaged fabrics and free-motion machine embroidery on hand-dyed canvas. Rooted in a lifelong affinity with animals, her work explores emotional experiences through the characteristics and symbolism of the wildlife she depicts.

    Currently, I am primarily interested in exploring human/nature discourses through a narrative practice that engages with objects (natural and human-made), representation, and employing a range of processes and means of making.     I am a multi-disciplinary artist, having first trained in graphic design.     I am a graduate professional artist with BA Fine Art First Class Honours 2006. I'm inspired by the landscape and create work that abstracts what I see and experience. Often working en plein air I create dynamic & colourful compositions. I'm inspired by abstract expressionism with rapid expressive mark making & striking colours of Fauvism.
