    I am a sculptor whose work investigates identity and the way we portray this in the world through the forms of our clothing and our architecture. Both are seen as metaphors for the body and for human experience. I have been investigating this relationship for 20 years.     Milena Makani is a German abstract painter based in London, living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Utilizing acrylics, watercolors and inks on mineral stone sheets, Makani created anatomic and deeply psychological abstractions that lend a visual language to her lived experience with disabilities and permanent pain as she explores themes of resilience, energy, serenity, fragility, stoicism and joy.

    Having worked with photography and cinema production, as well as different media and areas of painting, from porcelain to textiles, for over 20 years my art has been expressed in painting silks and photographing instants in the development of the painting process. My painted silks are the object of compositions and landscapes.
