    Originally from Moldova (formerly part of the USSR), I have called Harrogate home for the past 28 years. Since 1995, I've resided in the UK. Currently, I share my passion for art and photography as an educator at Harrogate Grammar School while continuing to refine my skills as a painter.     My work pulls from autoethnography , using lived experience alongside academic literature to tell a story and grasp audiences. I aim to be relatable and direct in order to address the culture we are in. I prefer my work to be accessible, this means audiences of any and all backgrounds can engage with my work. I feel a picture can speak a thousands words.

    I’m Elizabeth Benson, a UK-based artist working between textile and sculpture. I explore how cloth, dye and fibre respond to contact, pressure and time, using natural dyes, tannins and iron to create layered works where colour and form emerge through interaction rather than control.

    I've been working in education as a technician in various guises for over ten years. This has given me a wealth of knowledge and encounters that crosses specialist subject areas and allows me to bring in processes from different specialism into my art practice.     Ex Army Father of two beautiful girls and I work as a HGV driver in the UK. I got into art literally by accident, after a work place accident and recovering at home ,I took up pyrography to take my mind off the recovery. Since then and work permitting I do my art when I can. Only having weekends off from the road I love to dive into a piece for hours on end, the smell and sound is fantastic.
