    Embroiderer and wordsmith, Catherine Hill is a multi-award-winning contemporary textile artist based in the UK. Her artistic vision is drawn from her childhood memories growing up in the English county of Lancashire in the 1970’s. Easily recognised for her creative use of hand embroidered text, she has been exhibited in the UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Ukraine & Australia.

    My art uses traditional indigenous techniques, at the moment, most of my work uses "Momigami" one way or another this technique is embedded in my art. Momigami is an ancient paper technique, which has been mostly forgotten in Japan.

    I live in Glastonbury, Somerset I am an emerging artist after completing a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design as a mature student after a 20 years as a Health, Safety & Wellbeing practitioner.     I am a New Zealand born painter and filmmaker living and working on the Isle of Man. I have a BA in Religious Studies, and an MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins. My work has a strong relationship to place, particularly locations that are considered sacred, as well as symbolic, and often archaic representations of natural phenomena.
