    Marika is a skilled artist and a PhD candidate at Sheffield Hallam University. Her PhD project, Beyond Touch-screens, has been exhibited at the CHI Interactive Experience Bolzano and Stanley Gallery. She has also attended several conferences and residencies, including Activism Neuroaesthetics in Cognitive Capitalism by SFSIA. In 2023, she was a Junior Fellow at IWM for Digital Humanism.

    Based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, Sarah Dixon is a socially-engaged conceptual artist using a broad range of media to create participatory works.     I love experimenting with light sensitive materials and various chemistry to push boundaries of what analogue photography can do to feed my creative side. I find joy in trying out new things in the darkroom and jumping from one photographic process into another; Lith, Mordançage, Pinhole Camera, Cyanotype, Wet Plate Collodion, Tintype - you name it, I'll do it :D

    I’ve been trying to get to the root of why I paint what I paint, after much ruminating I think I’ve realised the different avenues my mind travels down. I’ve become more interested recently in a still life aspect to my work, looking at old toys and discarded objects and it’s the stories about the past, that I can almost see- just out of reach and stories are the main diet of my imagination.

    Im an abstract painter, with great sensitivity, who creates his works by bending reality and sometimes even touching on irrationality. On canvas, I expresses my subjective point of view of things, people and the world. motto ‘Everything that is not obvious is exciting.     Exploring the exciting properties of encaustic beeswax has been my passion for several years. First used by Ancient Egyptians as a painting medium, it saw a resurgence last century and has continued to flourish. Still relatively unknown in Europe, but once discovered, never forgotten. When I first took up my brush and dipped it into molten wax and pigment I knew I was hooked!
