    N. Irish artist living and working on the Ards peninsula in Co. Down. I lived a large part of my life in California working in Economics but I have always maintained my love of art and creating art. My journey now is mostly about making art.     David Watkins is a visual artist whose practice encompasses painting and installation. Based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, he is a trustee at The Old Waterworks, an artist-run studio and charity. Watkins holds a Professional Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London and has studied painting and sculpture at the University of Wolverhampton and the University of Buffalo, New York State.

    My art practice is rooted in drawing which evolves and crosses mediums. My work explores the intensely debated topics of race and sex and gender and colonisation.     I'm based in Leeds and currently painting is at the forefront of my practice. The paintings are about the people I know and landscapes that are painted from memories of special places. I attempt to exhibit the work regularly, and curate solo and group shows at 'Gallery 16', a venue in my house. I have also created many sculptures, mosaics and murals for the public realm.

    Chris' fine art seeks to bring the colours and mystery of other realms. His work is playful and joy filled with an overemphasis of light. Chris studied Art with Theology at Chester College and has exhibited in Chester and Cambridge and worked as an artist in residence with Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church. His work is often used for publications and magazines.
