    I am an artist based in Leeds. The concept of drawing is the subject of my work, focusing on the crucial role of materiality within an essential language of drawing. My current work uses graphite as both mark-making tool and as a material for the physical structure, allowing the qualities of the material to determine the form of the work.

    Jo creates abstract sea/colour-scapes focusing on horizons, using gold, silver, copper metal-leaf, oil-paint, playing with rust and verdigris on plaster and wooden panels.     I am in my early seventies having studied art in the last twenty years. My interest in the natural world, the climate crisis and threats to biodiversity are reflected in the work that I make in a variety of materials. I like to inject humour and surprise into the work through changes in scale and contrasts of materials.
