    Sinead Barker (b.1989) is a textile artist based in York, North Yorkshire. She creates wildlife textile art using collaged fabrics and free-motion machine embroidery on hand-dyed canvas. Rooted in a lifelong affinity with animals, her work explores emotional experiences through the characteristics and symbolism of the wildlife she depicts.

    I am an award winning cross-media artist and filmmaker, having exhibited internationally and worked collaboratively to deliver works that interrogate the role and impact of digital media practice.     I mostly paint, draw and print. While usually figurative my subjects are rarely quite human. I'm also interested in landscape that bears the oft-troubling traces of human presence. These are dark times. I feel perpetually shocked that we have ended up here. I try to explore this in my work. I committed to making art seriously late in life. Late enough to do it frivolously.
