    I am an artist/maker based in a small village on the West coast of Wales. I have been practicing for over 30 years. I work from a small studio at the back of my house. My surroundings are a constant source of inspiration to me; the colours of the expansive skies, the flocks of corvidae wheeling around and the flowers in the hedgerows. I work mostly with textiles.

    My work explores, identity, space and belonging through memory and migration. I specialise with analogue film and photography, combining this with digital mediums to create layered pieces of artwork. I have a special interest in exploring stories from the past, stories of migration and transition of cultures in today's society. I am one of the founders of an artist collectives called COVert Arts.

    I have spent most of my life working as a nurse. However, the urge to paint has always remained.     Alison Lam identifies as a neurodivergent, interdisciplinary socially arts practitioner using differing materials such as porcelain, metals, glass and paper. Alison explores the idea of grief, discardment and ostracisation, through exploring and invsestigating process led investigations. She often refers to this process as ‘drawing with her hands’.
