    During total isolation, in lockdown, I painted over a 164 artworks up to date. I also took up meditation which allowed my imagination to flow again. It was cathartic and eased the trauma from what was happening in the outside world. Life is returning back to what was before, but with a greater sense of appreciating family and friends, united.

    I am a Surrey based photographer and have taken photographs throughout the UK and in Europe and a few places in the US. Having now retired from my career job I have more time to dedicate to photography and those areas of photography that in particular interest me.

    I have been painting for 20 years now and love every minute. I work from home in my studio. I exhibit in the south east art fairs and London. I paint mainly large figurative pieces based on travels and city visits, I love to incorporate story and a sense of peace within each painting.

    I am interested in exploring photography as ‘Inframedium’, playing with the boundaries of the photographic object, its material ‘nature’ and the visual possibilities that exist within it. Stripping away the ‘Apparatus’ of the camera and thus stepping out of the arena of the technical image, I am exploring a different set of gestures with which to reveal the material’s phenomenological potential.

    Valerie Kuzina is a London-based artist working primarily with dry media. Her practice is rooted in observational sketching.     I’m interested in the subtle communication of the environmental impact that humans have on our planet especially animals and water. Eg. Octopus Using everyday materials ‘found objects’ mixing them with other materials I plan to sculpt ‘The energetic quality of Water’ I trust that if my attention is on a ‘matter ‘the matter energetically changes.
